As you may, but I’m guess­ing may not, be able to tell I’ve redesigned the site and the site’s been down for a cou­ple of weeks. Orig­i­nally I was just sim­ply mov­ing the site to a dif­fer­ent server but then I start think­ing about chang­ing a cou­ple things up on the design, next thing you know I’m knee deep in a total redesign that I really didn’t have the time for. So it ends up tak­ing me an extra 3 weeks to get every­thing done and it’s not totally fin­ished yet but good enough to get going again.

One of the things that isn’t done is I changed the size of the main con­tent area from 640 to 560 and a lot of my old posts used images that were 640 pix­els, so I’ve unpub­lished all of them for the time being until I can get the images changed. Also I felt that the way I was cat­e­go­riz­ing the posts in the data­base wasn’t the best so I wanted to cre­ate a bet­ter cat­e­gory sys­tem for all posts mov­ing for­ward. These changes were made because I wanted to design and orga­nize the site in a way that made it eas­ier to update and change in the future. As I start get­ting the old posts pub­lished again the search fea­ture and archives links will come back, I thought it was a lit­tle silly to relaunch with only one post searchable.

On kinda major change is I switched the com­ment­ing sys­tem to IntenseDe­bate, there’s a few rea­sons way I did this and I’m work­ing on a post that will talk about those. But one of the biggest is, I’m lazy about design­ing com­ment sec­tions and I didn’t want to delay another week design­ing something.
